Speak before

this pair The post-90s couple lived with four cats and one dog. They originally lived in a duplex building with a relatively small space. After owning this 126-square-meter flat, they hope to expand the space as much as possible and enjoy an open and spacious life. Run as fast as you can. Under the premise that only two people live, the advantage of the three-bedroom and two-bathroom layout has become a hindrance, and too many rooms are not used. Therefore, the master bedroom and the second bedroom, the master bathroom and the guest bathroom were merged into a large master bedroom and a large bathroom. The closed kitchen and the balcony were merged, and the design was changed to an open design. The second bedroom adjacent to the living room was also removed. The door, the north-south sunlight shines into the interior, and the space is suddenly bright and transparent. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design

House layout plan

Before the renovation 1. There are too many three rooms, which are easy to be idle and wasteful. 2. The two bathrooms are too many to use. 3. The kitchen is closed and dull. 4. The corridors along the east-west axis are too long and dark, wasting space. Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design▲ Before and after renovation 1. The two secondary bedrooms were demolished, the first bedroom was merged with the master bedroom, and the first bedroom was merged into the living room, using sliding doors instead. 2. The main guard and the guest guard are merged and transformed into four separate divisions. 3. The kitchen partition was removed and changed to an open design. 4. After the second bedroom is removed from the kitchen, the corridor is shortened and merged into the public space. Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design ▲ Analysis of the space transformation after the renovation In the case of only two people living, the traditional layout of three bedrooms, two halls and two bathrooms seems too much space. By dismantling unnecessary bedrooms and bathrooms in a timely manner, the space is enlarged to maintain an open view, and at the same time, the design of "reverse character moving lines" makes housework and cooking smoother, and greatly improves light and ventilation convection.

Kitchen

Key points of renovation 1. Open the closed kitchen, add a central island and cabinet, retain two entrances and exits, and form a return line. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design changed from a duplex to a large flat. The owner and his wife were looking forward to having an open kitchen, so that cooking and cooking could be more open. Therefore, the kitchen removes the partitions on both sides, that is, there are two more entrances and exits, which can lead to the entrance and the living room respectively, forming a useful "return line". Once you get home, you can enter the kitchen from the entrance, put down the vegetables and meat in your hands, put the ingredients in the refrigerator, and then go directly to the living room to rest. You don’t need to go back the same way, so people can go back. The open entrance also strengthens the north-south light and ventilation convection, and the kitchen can also look towards the living room when cooking, increasing the interaction between husband and wife. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design After the partition was removed, the original pipeline well and column occupy the center, which is too abrupt. The central island is deliberately arranged along the pipeline well to form an integrated design, which not only expands the cooking surface, but also can be used as a temporary breakfast bar or work table, which is also convenient for working from home. ▲ Picture source/Shanghai Benmo Design ▲ Picture source/Shanghai Benmo Design The surface of the pipe well is covered with a mirror surface, which cleverly makes the column invisible and weakens the sense of existence, and the reflection effect of the mirror surface can also expand the overall spatial vision. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design The interior of the living balcony is arranged with a cat litter box and a drinking basin. The door is removed and integrated into the kitchen. The two areas are connected in series, and the fur children can enter and exit freely. At the same time, a sink is also added to make cleaning mops or cat utensils more convenient. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design

Dining room + multifunctional room

Key points of renovation 1. The second bedroom adjacent to the living room was removed and replaced with a glass track door , built into a restaurant and multi-purpose room. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design In order to make more effective use of space, a secondary bedroom was abandoned, the partition was removed, and the dining table was moved here. The living room, dining room and kitchen are connected in series, and the unobstructed design maintains an open and transparent design. Visually, fur babies at home can also run back and forth and walk more freely. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design Restaurant arranges high-top cabinets along the wall, which can store equipment and sundries at home and effectively expand the storage capacity. The dining table can also be used as a work table, one in the kitchen and one in the dining room without disturbing each other. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design Although the frequency of visitors is low, the husband and wife still hope to have a space where guests can stay temporarily. Therefore, the glass track door is added, the restaurant can be turned into a guest room when the door is closed, and the space usage is more flexible. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design

Master Bedroom

Key points of renovation 1. The master bedroom and the second bedroom are combined to expand the area of the master bedroom. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design removed the useless secondary bedroom and merged it with the master bedroom to enlarge the space. Dressing tables and standing lamps can be placed on both sides of the bed. The couple who live as minimally as possible don't have much clothing, so they don't make a cloakroom, and only set up wardrobes along the wall. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design The original master bedroom entrance is just at the end of the corridor, and you can see the interior of the master bedroom as soon as you open the door. In order to maintain privacy, the original master bedroom is sealed The doorway forms the bottom of the corridor, and the entrance turns 90 degrees. The corridors are decorated with vintage wooden cabinets and paintings to form a beautiful scenery. If the couple has a birth plan in the future, and this sealed wall can be easily removed, the bedroom can be divided into two, and the layout is also convenient. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design

Bathroom

Key points of renovation 1. The main bathroom and the guest bathroom are merged to create four separate bathing spaces. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design There are too many bathrooms, and there are usually few guests visiting, so the two bathrooms were combined into one and upgraded to a large space of 11 square meters. The bathtub is deliberately placed in the center of the two windows, aligned with the central axis of the space, and the washbasin, shower room and toilet are arranged on both sides to form a pair of symmetry. At the same time, with the design of double doors, opening the door has a sense of ritual of bathing. ▲ Picture source/Shanghai Benmo Design ▲ Picture source/Shanghai Benmo Design The shower room and toilet room are independent, and the four-separation design effectively distinguishes the dry and wet areas. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design The equipment cabinet on one side of the washstand is hidden into the washing machine and dryer to improve the housework function, and a storage cabinet is added on the other side. With the mirror cabinet in the center, bath accessories can be effectively stored. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design

Entrance

The original entrance was too open, and shoe cabinets were deliberately arranged along the central island to form a corridor, and the entrance was You can experience the visual effect from narrow to wide, and the space is suddenly open. The shoe cabinet is specially widened to 141 cm, and at the same time it is placed on the top. In addition to shoes, it can also arrange dirty clothes area, coats and bags can be stored, and the storage is quite sufficient. A double bench is placed on the side, which can be used as a shoe-changing stool. The floor is covered with mosaic tiles, and the contrasting lines of black and white outline the European-style romantic feelings. ▲ Picture source/Shanghai Benmo Design ▲ Picture source/Shanghai Benmo Design

living room

Compared with the standard double sofa, the single sofa is deliberately selected in the living room. It can be assembled freely, the mobility of the sofa is also high, the position can be adjusted according to the mood, and the space usage is more flexible. Next to the TV cabinet is a set of robotic wine cabinets, so you can have a drink at home and relax completely. The ceiling is covered with gray-green color, and the space atmosphere is more calm. At the same time, the main light is not placed, and the decorative light plate and line board are used, showing a retro charm and contrasting with the herringbone floor. ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design ▲ Image source/Shanghai Benmo Design
